Psychological Assessments in Milton
Suntree Wellness provides psychological assessments for children, teens, and adults across Milton and the surrounding communities of Oakville, Mississauga, Georgetown, Halton Hills, Burlington, and Brampton. A thorough assessment can clarify questions about learning, attention, and development, and gives you a detailed written report you own and can use across schools, colleges, universities, and healthcare providers.
Types of Assessments
Psychoeducational Assessment
Our most comprehensive assessment. Identifies learning strengths and challenges, including learning disabilities in reading, writing, and math, and screens for ADHD, autism, and related concerns. Often required for an IEP or for accommodations at college or university.
ADHD
Assessment
A focused assessment of attention, memory, and executive functioning. Also assesses general mental health symptoms, such as anxiety and depression, to clarify whether ADHD is present. Provides recommendations for college and university, work, therapy, and more.
Autism
Assessment
Assessment of social communication and other behaviours related autism, using the ADOS-2, SRS-2, and other measures. Can also assess anxiety, ADHD, and other conditions that can mimic autism. Identified clients qualify for services such as the Ontario Autism Program (OAP).
Other Assessments We Offer
- Giftedness assessment: intellectual and select academic testing for giftedness identification, using the WISC-V and WIAT-4.
- Intellectual disability assessment: cognitive and adaptive functioning, using the WISC-V or WAIS-IV. Can help qualify for Developmental Services Ontario (DSO).
- Mental health diagnostic assessment: a thorough look at mental health and personality to clarify concerns such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, OCD, or Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD).
What to Expect
Every assessment follows the same four steps, so you always know what comes next. The exact testing time depends on the type of assessment, with psychoeducational assessments usually requiring two testing sessions.
Assessment Fees
Each assessment is billed at a flat rate based on its type, calculated at $255 per hour. This covers the full professional work of the assessment: the intake session, in-person testing, the feedback session, and scoring, interpretation, and report writing afterward.
Billable hours are not the same as time spent with your child.
Direct testing is typically two to six hours.
A Note on Invoicing for Children’s Assessments
When the client is a child, the child remains the primary client named on every invoice. Invoices are itemized by the type of professional time:
- Direct testing time can list only the child, since the child is the only person present.
- Intake and feedback sessions can also list any caregiver who attended, since those sessions involve the people who were present.
- Scoring and report writing can note parents or caregivers as part of the work completed “in consultation with” them, while the child remains the primary client.
Insurance plans differ in how they handle assessment invoices and whose name they will reimburse for. Please confirm with your insurance provider before your assessment that your plan covers a child’s psychological assessment in this format.
