Assessment Information

Suntree Wellness offers assessments to children, teens, and adults. The following types of assessments are offered:

  • Psychoeducational assessment
    • The most comprehensive assessment, typically for individuals in school to identify learning strengths and challenges. Required to determine the presence of learning disabilities (reading, writing, and/or math).
    • Includes assessment of ADHD, autism, and other challenges (e.g., anxiety, depression) if applicable.
    • Often required for an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or learning disability accommodations at university or college.
  • ADHD assessment
    • Assessment examining ADHD and general mental health symptoms (e.g., anxiety, depression).
  • Autism assessment
    • Assessment examining autistic behaviours (social-communication challenges and restrictive interests/repetitive behaviours). Can include assessment of ADHD if applicable.
    • Uses the ADOS-2 and autism-specific rating scales.
    • Can help qualify for services like the Ontario Autism Program (OAP).
  • Giftedness assessment
    • Briefest assessment examining intellectual functioning (IQ) and select academic testing, as required for giftedness identification at schools.
    • Uses the WISC-5.
  • Intellectual Disability/Developmental Disorder (ID/IDD) assessment
    • Assessment for cognitive ability/IQ and adaptive (day-to-day) behaviour.
    • Uses the WISC-5 or WAIS-IV.
    • Can help qualify for services like Developmental Services Ontario (DSO).
  • Diagnostic assessment
    • Thorough examination of mental health and personality traits. Helpful for clarifying diagnoses related to anxiety, trauma, Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), etc.

Assessments include an intake interview (virtual or in-person), testing, and a feedback session. Clients are provided with a written report at the end of the assessment. Testing includes two to six hours of in-person testing, with psychoeducational assessments requiring two testing sessions.

Costs

Clients are billed for a flat rate based on the type of assessment. Assessments are billed at a rate of $245 per hour with the typical hour breakdowns per assessment listed below. These fees include the intake session (50 minutes), the testing time (2 to 6 hours), the feedback session (50 minutes), and scoring/report writing time for the written report.

  • Psychoeducational assessment: 15 total hours = $3675
    • Up to 6 hours of testing (usually two 3-hour testing sessions), 7 hours of scoring/report writing
  • ADHD assessment: 8 total hours = $1960
    • Up to 2 hours of testing, 4 hours of scoring/report writing
  • Autism assessment: 9 total hours = $2205
    • Up to 3 hours of testing, 4 hours of scoring/report writing
  • Giftedness assessment: 6.5 total hours = $1592.50
    • Up to 2 hours of testing, 3 hours of scoring/report writing
  • Diagnostic assessment: 8 total hours = $1960
    • Up to 2 hours of testing, 4 hours of scoring/report writing

We are able to direct bill some insurance providers. Otherwise clients are provided with a detailed invoice that they can submit for reimbursement.
